Consolidated experience, constant technological development, and reliability demonstrated over time, have made SAET a leading company in power generation, transmission and distribution systems and stations for Network Operators (TSO), Energy Producers/Distributors (DSO), Utilities, and industrial plants both in Italy and abroad.

Today, SAET is today a reliable Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Contractor with strong worldwide experience and dedicated know-how offering turnkey solutions in compliance with all network codes and standards, and operating according to energy efficiency, service continuity and safety criteria. From the analysis of the request, to the feasibility study, design, installation, commissioning, delivery, training and subsequent maintenance activities, SAET aims to meet the needs of its customers by providing the best solution in terms of technological innovation, space and costs, while ensuring flexibility and reliability.

SAET started its activity in electrical substations supplying Protection and Control Switchgear according to ENEL standards (ENEL unification DCO90 and DPT96) and related DC and AC auxiliary services. Then the electromechanical assembly of HV equipment represented the natural evolution of SAET into the field of HV power stations more than 20 years ago.

ELECTRICAL STATION

ELECTRICAL STATION

Electrical stations are key components of a transmission and distribution network. They provide power equipment and devices for the shunting, monitoring, protection, control and fiscal measurement of energy and enable its efficient and reliable supply. SAET provides the design and construction of stations up to 500 kV.

ENERGY TRANSITION

Transazione energetica

ENERGY TRANSITION

With the continuation of the energy transition and the shift from fossil fuels (thermal power stations) to renewable energies, combined with its many years of experience, SAET recognises the problems of high voltage interconnection of renewable power stations. SAET has entered the renewable energy sector with the provision of turnkey electrical substations complete with civil works, often with BOP (Balance of Plant), and also including the possible connection to the High Voltage power line.

INTEGRATED VISION

SAET offers conventional air-insulated switchgear (AIS), but also custom solutions with hybrid gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and substations for powering Oil & Gas applications in the railways sector, smart grids, utilities on primary distribution networks (with primary substations built according to the standards of the local distributor), ground and rooftop solar systems, wind farms, hydroelectric plants, district heating and other power stations.

Turnkey Solutions

SAET acts as a single point of contact for its customers, handling the entire contract management.

The electrical substation is an essential part of a more complex system that allows the transfer of electrical energy from the point of production to the points of consumption. Within a substation, there is also a wide range of equipment, such as switchgear, HV transformer, protection systems, communication devices, voltage regulators and energy meters, which interact to ensure the safe and efficient supply of energy.

SAET offers control, protection, measurement and supervision systems, integrating the equipment of many manufacturers with international standard communication protocols (SCADA electrical system management), through an internal software development team able to provide customised solutions.

From the system engineering, up to the commissioning of the switchgear and control systems, SAET can provide the customer with complete and integrated solutions for power, protection and control intended for:

  • POWER STATIONS
  • HV STATIONS
  • HV/MV/LV INDUSTRIAL PLANTS (High, Medium and Low Voltage)

SAET, with its own resources, is able to provide complete solutions for plant automation and supervision, including possible integration with DCS (Distributed Control System), civil works, and support for authorisation processes.

Scada and its peculiarities

Using digital protections with open and non-proprietary communication protocols has resulted in the development of a plant supervision and data acquisition system (SCADA) using the latest network technologies (Industrial Ethernet, TCP-IP with IEC 61850 protocols). The system has the following main functions:

– redundant, radial, ring networks;

– management of command logics from the central system, interface with DSO / TSO;

 – supervision of protections with alarm and event recorder;

– analysis of network disturbances (disturbance recorder);

– monitoring of the status of electrical equipment (switch status, transformation reports, measurements, etc.);

– online self-diagnostics with integrated watch-dog;

– analysis of permitted configurations and diagnostics;

– plant video pages with drop-down pop-up menus and buttons for plant management;

– time synchronisation via PTP (Precision Time Protocol) or NTP (Network Time Protocol);

– engineering work station for the preparation (and back-up documentation) of plant protection parameters (implementation of selectivity studies).
